The Benchmark Target score represents the average outcome for all patients in the data repository. If a patient's final score in a treatment episode is lower (i.e., less global distress) than the Target Score, the patient's outcomes can be said to be better than average.
The Benchmark Target is calculated using the General Linear Model routine within SAS using all closed cases with the ACORN data repository as the normative sample.
